My Ideals of Freedom

This is my personal belief when it comes to freedom:

"I would say that people have the right to live their lives in any way they choose so long as they don’t violate the equal rights of others".

I see no reason why anyone should disagree with this. Those people who do disagree with this statement disagree for selfish reasons, because they stand to profit from restricting other people's freedoms and rights.

Just take marijuana for example. In the U.S. possession or cultivation of any amount of marijuana is totally illegal, even on your own property or inside your own house. Please tell me why anyone else would care if someone sits inside their own house alone smoking marijuana, bothering no one. They care because of PROFITS! When you get busted and have to go to court and pay huge amounts of fines, court costs, drug classes, rehab, or whatever else they order you to do, the greedy government makes money. Not to mention if people could smoke weed the pharmaceutical industry would lose profits. Also, many prisons these days are privately operated for profit, so they want you to end up there.

The above is just one example of how greedy members of society profit from interfering with other people's rights. There are many more cases of this. I would really love if one of you people out there who support laws restricting people's personal choices such as using a plant in their own home feel that you should have that right???
